Taking the Pepsi Challenge

okay, so when i was getting dressed today, i was putting on my deodorant and it broke off... you know what i'm talking about because it's happened to all of us, when the deodorant part is nearly to its end but you still scoll it up as far as it will go because you don't want the plastic casing to scrape your arms... and because you've scrolled it up so far, you've compromised its structural integrity... okay, so it broke off and went sliding across the floor. Strangely even though you've been rubbing this stuff on your skin, it feels weird to pick that stub up off the floor because it's got such an "other worldly" texture-- there is just nothing else like it, except maybe lithium grease...

okay, since the deodorant broke off using it on just one arm, i had to use a new stick on the other arm, and that other stick was a different brand. So, i felt like a commercial all day... Thursdays are one of my most physical days at work, so this was a good day to test drive deodorants side by side.

Falling Down

you think that i would remember getting a bruise that dark... i just discovered it while combing my hair and i'm like... WHAT? no, i haven't been drinking ANY time recently, i don't REMEMBER falling down, or hitting anything...

All i want for Christmas is my Two Front Teeth

and all i want for my birthday is to not have pneumonia...

my birthday is in a week, and i think that my pneumonia is relapsing. i went through several courses of antibiotics, and i've been on albuterol and mucinex and all sorts of other things, and i was actually feeling better... i've been back to work since last week Thursday, but each day at work just leaves me exhausted and i've been having couching fits the last couple nights...

i have been told that my store has an "attendance problem", but what it comes down to is that my store has an illness problem. We are so afraid to call in sick people come in sick anyway and then get the rest of us sick... and then the cycle starts... we each get sick and then we each get everyone else sick all over again...

i was under medical care and was on leave directed by my doctor for about two weeks. Yes, i was actually feeling better, but maybe i pushed myself to go back to work. am i contageous? i have no idea, but i sure hope not.

but i have a cozy apartment in which to suffer... (see picture...)

Somewhere in Time

So, last night i dreamt that i was sent back in time to solve a murder or something... it was back in time by only like ten years or so, but my only link to my original time was my cell phone. i was still able to send text messages to "home base", plus also showing off my cellphone was supposed to be proof (when i needed it) that i WAS from the future...

At some point, Nazis locked down the building we were in; they sent poison gas throughout the building. We quickly figured out what was going on, so in enough time to avoid the poison gas we made our way outside... where machine gun crews were waiting to mow us down. i ducked and played dead before i was hit. Luckily so did many of my friends. We layed still amongst the bodies. When we were confident they had left us, we slowly started to raise our heads to survey the damage. All things considered, many of us survived. "Many" does not mean "a lot". "Many" pretty much just means "any", considering there were about a hundred or so people outside and there were people waiting to kill all of us...

Fear and Loathing in Milwaukee

So, i've been on medical leave for nearly two weeks for pneumonia. i had written notes faxed from the doctor's office to work, legitimizing my absence immediately without me having to haul my sick ass self all the way to work. The doc teneatively cleared me to return on Tuesday, Feb 28. The Friday before, i had to go into work to pick up some paperwork for the doc to fill out. i wasn't able to go in to work until after the doctor's clinic closed for the day on Friday. By Monday, i had forgotten to drop off the paperwork. Tuesday i went in ready to work at the warehouse. Joe, the District Manager asks me "Where is your 'Return to Work' paperwork?

i was given a lot of paperwork, but a "Return to Work" form was not a part of that package.

He gave me a new copy and sent me home--essentially so that i COULD get the form signed... i went to the clinic, dropped off the paperwork and asked the receptionist "when will this be done?" the receptionist replied that because the office was short one doctor, the other two doctors were already overbooked. i left my phone number and went home to wait.

Wednesday morning, today, i woke up early to call the clinic to ask about my paperwork. It was at THIS time that i was informed that i would have to make an appointment to see the doc to get the forms filled out, and the next available appointment was March 6th... and entire week away.

This would have left me in limbo-- my medical leave is over, yet i'm not allowed to return to work without this paperwork.

i begged and pleaded, and they are squeezing me in at 7:40am Thursday morning which is plenty of time for me to get the paperwork filled out and go to work for my full scheduled day.

The "problem" with all of this is that i wasn't given the paperwork that i needed until the day that i was supposed to return to work. The store manager is probably going to insist that the paperwork WAS given to me in plenty of time to get it filled out. Who is Joe going to believe? me or the manager?

Even if the paperwork had been given to me Friday when i stopped into the store, there's a good chance that my doctor wouldn't have been able to see me anyway... unfortunately, the manager probably won't believe that, either...

So now i'm unable to sleep because i'm stressing out about what my day back is going to be like... i'll be reprimanded for not having the paperwork filled out by Tuesday even though i didn't get it until Tuesday, and i'm going to get reprimanded for being sick in the first place (you think i'm kidding, but actually that happened to me last year. i was actually told that i need to make a better effort toward not getting sick...)

Beware the Ides of March
